What Is Going On Here?
I like to take photographs. I like to show them to people.
I get envious of people who take series of photographs that are connected by a theme.
I wanted a theme of my own.
Then I had the Big Idea.
The Big Idea
I plan to document a year of my life with photographs.
One picture a day, every day, for a year.
Starting on my 33rd birthday, ending on my 34th.
(The title has confused more than one person - remember that your first birthday comes at the end of your frist year.)
The Rules
It isn't a Project without some guidelines.
Without rules, it's just a hobby.
Here are mine:
One picture a day, every day, for a year.
Even if it sucks or the lab ruined it.
Pictures must represent my day in some way.
No staging of subjects.
Dates and locations of images will be stated.
I may take more than one picture for any given day, but only one counts for the Project.
Ideally, pictures will be of things that won't be there tomorrow.
Or at least of places where I won't be tomorrow.
The Digital Revolution Has Been Called Off
Photos may be taken with a variety of cameras, both film and digital.
However, my $15 medium format plastic camera takes images that when scanned on my film scanner produce images of approximately 80 megapixels.
I don't have an 80 megapixel digital camera.
My digital camera is a toy.
So is yours.
Most of these photos will be taken with film.
Having to fill a roll before processing and scanning means there will be a delay between the taking and posting of images.
Posting should occur one image per day, even though offset from their date.
Offset should be about two weeks once I am up to speed.
This web site will be ugly for a while but hopefully will get better over time.
